Reunited; then home...

Reguince and I continued on the following day to Santo Domingo. He spoke to his wife via my cellphone and confirmed that they were indeed in hospital at Dario Contreras in Sto Dgo, and that Luciano had lost his arm.

We drove for a time- at one point Reguince broke into tears suddenly. Sobbing. It alarmed me that this huge manly customs official, comfortable with an automatic weapon, was crying in my front seat.

We arrived at the hospital- located Luciano and Marie-Sonide. They were with about 50 other Haitian families and their injured children.

We spent the day meeting with the nurses and distributing supplies; families reported that they were not receiving food; especially formula for infants. Ironic that the 70lbs of medicine, women's hygeine products, baby diapers and food was finding its way to displaced Haitians.... but in the Dominican capital.
