Back On The Ground In Port Au Prince

After taking most of July off, One Truck hit the books in August to get ahead of the math-meets-spreadsheets joy that is non-profit accounting (Why didn't you tell me??? Why didn't I listen!!!!) We're ahead of the game- almost done with the books....

Today I arrived back in PaP- and jumped on with Dan who is now project managing the Give Love container housing project. As you will remember, last we talked, we had two prototype units on location in Cite Soleil- we were project managing the camp there thru May.

After the Bois Neuf camp de-materialized (more on that later) we shifted plans and Give Love began the search for a new site location.

Dan is now working with St. Damien's hospital in Tabarre on a new layout for the Give Love community.

(I have redacted this part.... more has changed since this update- for more on the container housing see the givelove website (www.givelove.org)

For my part I'm super excited to be back in PaP and looking forward to visiting the humanure composting site tomorrow. Also tomorrow we will meet with a Cite Soleil school program; I am hoping to develop a partnership opportunity for PaP village and camp schools to partner with US children through One Truck and a US partner organization...more on that later as well.

NYC friends- let's get our children's soccer/athletic equipment collection in high gear! The need is stronger than ever. Check out the kids on bikes using foam insulation for bike helmets.

More soon, Cosmo
